Frequently asked questions

Why silicone oil rather than glycerine in ZX-03?

Silicone oil (dimethyl silicone) remains fluid from −40 °C to +150 °C — far wider than glycerine's −20 °C to +60 °C window. In outdoor mobile equipment that cold-soaks overnight, glycerine can solidify and cause sluggish or inaccurate readings at start-up. Silicone oil also doesn't absorb water, preventing freeze-thaw cycling damage.

What shock and vibration levels can ZX-03 withstand?

ZX-03 is designed to IEC 60068-2-27 (50 g, 11 ms mechanical shock) and IEC 60068-2-6 (4 g rms, 5–500 Hz vibration). This covers most mobile equipment duty cycles. For continuous 10 g+ vibration, contact us for the reinforced-movement variant.

Is ZX-03 available in bar/MPa as well as PSI?

Yes. PSI is standard (0–270 psi). Metric ranges (0–20 bar, 0–2 MPa) are available. Dual-scale dials (psi+bar, psi+kPa) are available with no tooling fee.

What connection thread is standard on ZX-03?

NPT 1/4" male standard (matches North American mobile equipment). G1/4B (BSP) available. ORFS (O-ring face seal) adaptors can be supplied separately.

Can ZX-03 handle hydraulic fluid at elevated temperature?

Silicone oil fill remains effective to +150 °C, but the Bourdon tube and socket are rated for media up to +100 °C for brass versions. For hydraulic fluid above +80 °C, specify the 316L SS wetted-parts option.

Is silicone oil compatible with all process media?

Silicone oil fill does not contact the process — it fills the case exterior. The wetted parts (bourdon tube, socket) contact the process. Wetted parts are brass (standard) or 316L SS (optional).

How do I know if ZX-03 needs replacing?

Replace if: pointer sticks or moves sluggishly, readings are more than ±5% off a reference gauge, or if silicone oil shows cloudiness (water contamination). Do not attempt to repair — replacement is the correct action.

What dial sizes are available?

63 mm, 100 mm, and 160 mm. 100 mm is most common for equipment panels. 63 mm for space-constrained manifold mounting.

Does ZX-03 require a snubber?

Generally not for moderate pulsation — silicone fill provides inherent damping. For extreme hydraulic hammer (relief-valve chatter, rapid valve closure), a piston snubber upstream prolongs gauge life even with liquid fill.

Is ZX-03 CE marked?

Yes. CE marking covers the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) for gauges in Category I. Third-party test reports available on request.
