The snubber adds resistance so rapid pressure changes are slowed before they reach the Bourdon tube. More damping gives a calmer pointer, but too much damping can hide a real pressure rise.

Typical applications include pump discharge lines, compressors, hydraulic presses, dosing pumps and test stands. Dirty, viscous or crystallising media may require a diaphragm seal or transmitter instead of a narrow restriction.
