Frequently asked questions

What makes ZX-12 'mini' compared to a standard gauge?

ZX-12 uses a 40 mm dial (standard gauges are 63–160 mm) with a G1/8 connection thread. The entire gauge weighs approximately 35 g and stands only 52 mm tall. It is designed for space-constrained OEM and panel applications where a standard gauge would be physically too large.

What pressure ranges are available for ZX-12?

Standard ranges: 0–1 bar, 0–2.5 bar, 0–4 bar, 0–6 bar, 0–10 bar, 0–16 bar, 0–25 bar. Vacuum range −1 to 0 bar also available. Custom ranges on request.

What accuracy does ZX-12 offer?

Class 2.5 (±2.5% FS) standard for the 40 mm dial. Class 1.6 is available in the 50 mm version. For precision requirements below Class 1.6, a diaphragm or digital gauge is more appropriate at this size.

Is ZX-12 suitable for hydraulic fluid service?

Yes for pressures up to 25 bar with mineral hydraulic oil. The SS Bourdon tube and brass socket are compatible with standard HLP/HM grade hydraulic fluids. Not suitable for water-glycol hydraulic fluids (these attack brass).

What connection thread is standard?

G1/8B male (1/8" BSP parallel) is standard — this is the most common thread for miniature pneumatic manifolds. G1/4B and NPT 1/8" are available options. Confirm thread form before ordering.

Can ZX-12 be used in a food-grade installation?

For incidental food contact, specify the 316L SS Bourdon tube and socket. For direct food contact (process media), the diaphragm gauge ZX-05 with a sanitary flush connection is more appropriate than a miniature Bourdon tube gauge.

How do I read a 40 mm dial accurately?

The 40 mm dial has 270° sweep with major divisions at every 20% FS and minor divisions at 5% FS. At Class 2.5, the resolution of a 0–10 bar scale is approximately 0.5 bar per graduation. For finer reading, specify the 50 mm dial at Class 1.6.

Does ZX-12 have a blow-out safety back?

Yes. Per EN 837-1, ZX-12 has a solid front with a rear pressure-relief vent. If the Bourdon tube fails (rare), pressure is directed backwards and away from the operator.

Can ZX-12 be liquid-filled?

Not in the standard 40 mm ABS case — the case sealing is not rated for liquid fill. If vibration damping is required at miniature scale, pair ZX-12 with a G1/8 piston snubber upstream of the gauge connection.

What is the service life of ZX-12?

In clean, non-pulsating service: typically 3–5 years. At steady moderate pressures (25–75% FS) in dry pneumatic service, field life can exceed 5 years. In pulsating service, add a snubber — repeated pointer oscillation is the primary life-limiter for small-dial gauges.
